Fortunately i'm not one of those annoying monks ^.^ I always take a res, because i know someone's going to die. the only problem is the res spells take so damn long to cast i get killed mid-spell

Idiots are very common on the internet. Get used to them, but try to teach them to not be dumb, if they don't learn, leave.

On a side note, I did thirsty with a pug, 2 nukers (me as one), an ss necro, a wammo, an e/mo pseudo monk, and a ranger.

the groups weren't very good, i have no trust in people who just invited me as the only healer in their team ^.^

On a side note, i lost at Dunes of despair today, but not because of some stupid people. When I went into the district, i had absolutely no idea i had unwittingly wandered into a French District (i often assume i'm going to appear in the english district, it's happened a couple of times now) So I started the mission. There was a lack of communication (i'm not an excellent french speaker *sweat*) and the only talk i did get out of them was yelling out 'HEAL' 'HEAL!!!' 'HEAL!!!!!11!'. we got to the part where we had to defend the ghost, and apparently someone was furious, as i saw some rather furious scribbling on the mini map, trying to indicate a line two of the players had to stay behind, which they promptly ignored. We got slaughtered. When i returned to the district i immediately realised my mistake and switched to the International district, where i could lounge around in peace for a while ^.^

before anyone takes offense, i'm not dissing frenchmen at all, i just couldn't quite understand what they were discussing and therefore i didn't cope too well ^.^;

Zen Daizun.

Noob ignorance at its best.

I can't count the number of arguments i've had with idiots over the fact that they are too retarded to read the description of Zunraa's enchantment to realize they CAN remove Miasma.

I think alot of the players going through the desert missions now are the ones who never played Prophecies before, so there is bound to be a learning curve. In time people will master all these missions like we all did after a bunch of misses the first time through. No sense in getting mad over a game if everyone gave it their all.

I did thirsty with a new prophecy player group and we got it first time through. No one listened to me about the 2 minutes thing, but we managed to kill everything anyway, sometimes twice even. I figured we'd lose at the monk boss, but surprisingly enough our team got the priest down to about 3/4 health. After that, Earthquake, Aftershock, Tsumeis Crytals killed him in like 4 seconds.

With every release there will be a learning curve, especially if they go back and buy previous chapters.

Wait a second...I thought Sand Giants were only in the beginning of Thirsty? If thats where you were having trouble in that group, you never had a chance anyway.

By the way...if you think you need a Pug for Dunes..I feel sorry for you. Hopefully you just like pugs and don't need to use them, because that would make you worse than me, and no one should have to suffer that fate. (Dunes is just so incredibly easy I mean)

I loved getting my monk through Cantha because it was my 3rd character and I didn't have to use henchies for every mission like my other 2 characters. Not having to direct henchies=yay. A basic Pvp boonprot build>pve.

Anyway, the two times I actually had to do TR, a prenerf Mm and assorted non-monks had no problem at all. Usually I just get it run anyway.

Pugs are great fun, you can keep them all alive with unyileding aura and then kill them at will claiming they ran over a landmine.
Its also fun watching what builds people have, you see some crazy stuff being using in pugs, flare on a warrior i think is the best ive seen yet.

Well, what I've found is the following;

* People don't care about contributing to groups anymore, so they pack average skills, don't fire off spells, spend extended periods of time wanding things.

* People are still new to the game, so in fairness, they're not packing decent armor, don't have their attributes set right, don't have runes, haven't done their attribute point quests.

I actually found a warrior (W/N) using a BOW for most of the duration of the second last mission in FACTIONS. Like, come on, that's one hard mission buddy, get your bow out of your ass, and start axe/sword/hammering these dudes.

This isn't ever warriors either, you can TELL when they're doing nothing.

Grr... so yeah, people are either new, being an ass on purpose or wish to leech from the group to get their Kurzick, Luxon or Imperial 15K armor... it's annoying, and the cause of many failed mission that shouldn't have been that hard.
* Monks. By far the most annoying player there is, bar none. They often think to themselves, hey, I'm the monk, I can go AFK at will, quit when I get upset, or just plain be an ass constantly. :|

Man, I don't even remember the last time my monk used Breeze. What I find funny is that so many monks will say that they use Breeze to offset conditions like poison, conjure phantasm...etc. So with let's say even with 14 points in healing the Breeze will give you +9 regen for 10 seconds. Since 1 pip is 2 points then thats basically 180 points of health gained after the 10 seconds are up. I guess that's all well and good, but in many areas enchantments are susceptible to removal so why not go with a good spike heal like Word of Healing instead??? For only 5e and 14 in healing you get 170 points (if health <50%) and that's not including any health boosts from points in divinity.

And as far as the one guy saying he hates monks that try to make demands and dictate how the group is to do things then I do feel your pain; however, as a monk I have done this once or twice. I suppose it could be considered rude or disrespectful in the gaming community, but let me ask you this. If you knew how to successfully play out a mission and had failed many times because of bad PUGs then wouldn't you get to the point where you'd want to start making demands? As a monk you have that leverage and ability to push the group in a certain direction. I've very rarely done this, but on a couple missions here and there I've reached that "breaking point" where I used my monk's leverage to get my way. And I suppose one might ask, "If you know the mission then why not take henchman?" Well, I only do henchies if I can't get into a PUG pretty much. Although, they can be frustrating at times I prefer PUG 99% of the time.

And lastly, the topic of the thread is named, "Idiotic players - Have you ever played alongside them?" This is like asking "Babies - Have you ever seen one poo poo itself?" I would give my left nut if someone has actually played through Guild Wars and not played alongside an idiot. Unless of course they had expert guildies hold there hand through the whole thing.

Healing Breeze has it's place (I'm talking PvE here though). A good spike heal is no help to a ally under degen who's close to max health, apply breeze means you can focus on the other allies while the hex is present. I've not come across many instances of the enchantment being removed/shattered.

Then again, I'm talking PvE, I'm sure it's a different story in PvP where enchantment warey people are present.

Healing breeze is an enchant.. don't use it to combat conjure phantasm, the chances of a 'shatter hex' being used just after you cast healing breeze is rather large in pve.

As for monks carrying res, I've been with monks who do and monks who don't. My monk carries rebirth incase we really mess up.

Factions is best played at speeds where an 8th monk skill instead of a res is a lot more useful, so I'm more than happy to have a monk without res and will generally ask if anyone has a re-usable res before using a sig. Prophecies isn't as fast-paced, so using rebirth is excusable, so's the ele calling energy and asking the team to stop while they regain their 80 energy.

Here's a tip about playing a Monk & using Henchies:

Ramp up you're smiting prayers skills & attributes and hire Alesia to do the healing! I did most of the Tyrian missions with my monk that way, including Thirsty river.
